Belize New Management

Here’s an idea I’ve been toying around with for a while, thought I’d share it with you to get your feedback and ideas on how we can make Belize better.

Belize New Management
Belize New Management
  • National Board will managed the daily on-goings in the nation. They will be elected by the people in a national election that will be every 5 years.
  • District Reps will be elected by the people in a district wide elections once every 4 years.
  • Local Governments will be responsible to work with the people on the ground to come up with plans and solutions to issues affecting the populace and present them to the District Reps. There may even be room for smaller bodies like Councils to make it even more involved with the people. These bodies will be elected by the people in an election every 3 years.
  • Review Board to consist of Accountants and Attorneys along with advisors in different fields that will review all transactions both incoming and outgoing to ensure they are not only feasible but legal and within appropriate coding guidelines.

This is just a quick outline, we can grow from here. Leave your comments below.

The promises of a better future …

So I’ve been reading the manifestos for both the PUP and UDP parties and have some items I want to cover, hopefully I can get to it all before election day… Continue reading “The promises of a better future …”

It’s almost that time again Belize

Pretty soon someone will start visiting your homes, spreading cheer and giving gifts. No, I am not talking about Jolly Old Saint Nicholas; I’m talking about your local politicians. The problem here is that they come bearing small gifts in turn for huge returns once they get into office.

Here is how it will more than likely play out..

Good day, we are here campaigning for the upcoming elections. Can we come in to talk to you and your family?

In a couple minutes you will start hearing:

  • A million excuses about why this particular politician was not able to do what they had to do in the past.
  • A bunch of lies about the other party to confuse you and get you to not want to hear the next person.
  •  Tons of lies, promises that will be broken and several truck load of horse-shit.

The Alternative struggle in Belize

I talk to Belizeans on the ground every day and the one thing that is certain in all the discussions is that they want a serious Alternative, not a bunch of individual units working together under a common idea. Belizeans see that as a larger more spread out version of the two party system. Currently we have PUP and UDP fighting for power, if the Alternatives win, it will be a larger struggle for power..

The lesser of two evils is still evil. And we keep doing the same insane thing of voting in evil every 5 years.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Thought of the Day

I haven’t done this in a while but here is my TOD for today June 25, 2015
The problem is that we allowed our Colonial masters to instill in us that one race is superior to another and one group is to rule others and that certain “classes” of people are inferior and should be put to death even.

We have allowed ourselves to be led into the construct where we are classified like farm animals…

The system works on a divide and conquer method and we do all the work by being racists and bigots.

Until we learn that the construct of classifications is our enemy and we learn to break free and unite as one people regardless of color or orientation or any of the dividers they place between us we will remain where we are and things will only get worst.

Motion vs Progress

Many people confuse motion for progress. These are two completely different things..

Let’s see what the dictionary says about the two:

  • Motion: the action or process of moving or being moved.
  • Progress: forward or onward movement toward a destination.

They sound similar, but they’re not the same.

Rocking Chair
Don’t mistake motion for progress. A rocking chair moves but it goes nowhere.

Here are a few examples:

  • I go to the gym and sign up for membership, that is motion. I actually go to the gym to exercise, that is progress.
  • I plan for an awesome family vacation, that is motion. I actually go on vacation and enjoy the time with my family, that is progress.
  • Outlining ideas for projects to undertake, that is motion. Actually implementing and completing those ideas, that is progress.

While motion is important to plan and prepare for your end-goals, it will never get you to said end-goals unless you make progress. Too many times we find excuses to remain in the action phase instead of moving into the progress phase.

Never mistake activity for achievement.

Thought for the day July 1 2014

Thought for the day July 1 2014

For the past 30+ years we find ourselves swinging back and forth between a two-party structure that has basically had one true goal of self fulfillment of their members and chosen affiliates. We have constantly been lied to and taken advantage of. Parties basing their plans on a 5 year span only, never allowing any real planning for long-term growth and solutions that should be putting our nation on the world map. We have resources both in nature (gold, oil, wood, crops, honey, etc) and people (we are the only English-speaking country in CA) but they have all been used to push the agendas and fill the pockets of politicians and their cronies instead of for the betterment of the nation and people.

Poverty is one of the most impacting and devastating thing that any nation can have hanging over their head and Belize it seems has made a business of it. Last report I got my hands on showed the poverty level to be at about 41% (2013 est.)1, and I bet it is even higher now. Education is the next one as it directly impacts the ability of the citizenry to move ahead out of poverty. Next is jobs.

Poverty

I’ve been absent for a bit as I was busy at work, but I’m back and ready to pick up the fight once more.. Stay tuned.
