Here’s an idea I’ve been toying around with for a while, thought I’d share it with you to get your feedback and ideas on how we can make Belize better.
National Board will managed the daily on-goings in the nation. They will be elected by the people in a national election that will be every 5 years.
District Reps will be elected by the people in a district wide elections once every 4 years.
Local Governments will be responsible to work with the people on the ground to come up with plans and solutions to issues affecting the populace and present them to the District Reps. There may even be room for smaller bodies like Councils to make it even more involved with the people. These bodies will be elected by the people in an election every 3 years.
Review Board to consist of Accountants and Attorneys along with advisors in different fields that will review all transactions both incoming and outgoing to ensure they are not only feasible but legal and within appropriate coding guidelines.
This is just a quick outline, we can grow from here. Leave your comments below.
The Age of Consent in Belize is 16 years old. The age of consent is the minimum age at which an individual is considered legally old enough to consent to participation in sexual activity. Individuals aged 15 or younger in Belize are not legally able to consent to sexual activity, and such activity may result in prosecution for statutory rape or the equivalent local law. Belize statutory rape law is violated when an individual has consensual sexual intercourse with a person under age 16.
Belize does not have a close-in-age exemption. Close in age exemptions, commonly known as “Romeo and Juliet laws” in the United States, are put in place to prevent the prosecution of individuals who engage in consensual sexual activity when both participants are significantly close in age to each other, and one or both partners are below the age of consent. Read a note this morning from a friend regarding BTL billing. Check your bill carefully for any extra charges that seem out of the ordinary. Apparently they are adding 17 cents to your bill for paying with you credit card from your machine at home” …
To one person this may not seem like a lot but start adding that up over time and the amount of customers BTL has and, well, you get the picture.
$0.17 x 50,000 = $8,500 a month x 12 = $102,000 a year. And I bet they have more than 50,000 customers.
Pretty soon someone will start visiting your homes, spreading cheer and giving gifts. No, I am not talking about Jolly Old Saint Nicholas; I’m talking about your local politicians. The problem here is that they come bearing small gifts in turn for huge returns once they get into office.
Here is how it will more than likely play out..
Good day, we are here campaigning for the upcoming elections. Can we come in to talk to you and your family?
In a couple minutes you will start hearing:
A million excuses about why this particular politician was not able to do what they had to do in the past.
A bunch of lies about the other party to confuse you and get you to not want to hear the next person.
Tons of lies, promises that will be broken and several truck load of horse-shit.
I talk to Belizeans on the ground every day and the one thing that is certain in all the discussions is that they want a serious Alternative, not a bunch of individual units working together under a common idea. Belizeans see that as a larger more spread out version of the two party system. Currently we have PUP and UDP fighting for power, if the Alternatives win, it will be a larger struggle for power..
The lesser of two evils is still evil. And we keep doing the same insane thing of voting in evil every 5 years.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

So I cracked open my first bottle of Tiburon yesterday and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by the smooth taste from that sexy bottle that feels like running your hand through fine silk, not that I was expecting anything too different. This is highly recommended.
I tried it in different ways:
on the rocks
with coconut water
with club soda
and I must say that on the rocks and coconut water are my favorite ways. If you have suggestions let me know. I will be trying out some recipes and making up my own stay tuned for updates as I run the tests. Continue reading “Belizean Tiburon Rum”→
