April 16, 2013 (MAYWOOD, Ill.) (WLS) — Police issued an Amber Alert Tuesday for Bryeon Hunter, a 1-year-old boy taken by force during an attack near 5th and Main in Maywood.
Officials say the child was taken from his mother around 2:15 p.m. by three male Hispanics. They were in a black, two-door sports car with tinted windows.
The African-American boy is 2-feet tall and 30 pounds. He was wearing a two-tone, blue stripe long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and brown Nike boots.
The Maywood Police Department is asking for information and assistance from the community. If anyone witnessed the events that led to this incident, they are asked to call Maywood police at (708) 450-4472.
Police Believe Missing Maywood Child Is Dead
CHICAGO (CBS) – A missing one-year-old boy from Maywood was killed by somebody who was upset that the child could not be potty-trained, a source told CBS 2.
The source says the body of a child believed to be Bryeon Hunter was dumped into the Des Plaines River near Maywood. Police searched the area on Wednesday before leaving the banks of the river late Wednesday afternoon. No body was found.
Bryeon has been the subject of an AMBER alert after his mother told police three Hispanic men beat her and kidnapped the child. After questioning the mother, police now believe Lakeshia Baker’s story is not true. The alert was issued on Tuesday and police cleared the three men on Wednesday morning.
Police have been questioning Baker and her boyfriend on Wednesday. No charges have yet been filed against any suspects.

Chicago (Huffington Post) – Police are fearing the worst for a Maywood toddler after the Wednesday search for him was suspended due to inclement weather and the account given by own mother being called into question by police.
As of Wednesday, however, the Sun-Times reports Maywood police believed Baker’s statements were untrue. “We believe this to be an isolated event and not one that was described as three men committing an abduction,” Maywood Police Chief Tim Curry said according to the Sun-Times.
Police question mother, boyfriend in disappearance of boy
Chicago (WGN-TV) – Police in suburban Maywood are still questioning a mother and her boyfriend as they piece together the missing persons case involving her 1-year-old son.
1-year -old Bryeon Hunter disappeared yesterday and his mother told WGN they were ambushed and beaten up before a group of men took off with the toddler.

April 22, 2013 (MAYWOOD, Ill.) (WLS) — An Amber Alert issued for a missing Maywood boy Bryeon Hunter was canceled. His mother, Lakesha Baker, is charged with his murder.
Baker’s boyfriend, Michael Scott, also faces first-degree murder charges in Bryeon’s death. Both were charged on Saturday.
Bryeon, 1, was reported missing on Tuesday. Baker told police three men attacked her and took off with the boy, prompting an Amber Alert. But prosecutors say Baker and Scott beat the boy when he wouldn’t stop crying, and dumped his body.
