A husband to a Wife … How it should work

Proverbs 12 – A worthy woman is the crown of her husband.

4 An excellent wife is the crown of her husband…

If so, then let the husband express appreciation for her always.

Proverbs 19

14 Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Proverbs 31

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.

1 Peter 3 – The husband should give honor to his wife.

7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife,
as to the weaker[1] vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life,
that your prayers may not be hindered.

Yet many husbands give much more criticism than they give honor. How often do you deliberately say or do something intended to honor your wife? Is she supposed to consider herself honored simply because it has been a while since you insulted her?

Proverbs 31 – A worthy woman should be praised by her husband.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “ Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

Do you praise your wife when she prepares a meal, cleans the house, cares for your children, or fulfills her responsibilities? Or do you just criticize when you think she fails?

1. It is my belief that this word means fragile as in sensitive and deserving of caress and careful handling, not weak as is strength or ability. It is more of a treatment thing, just as one would handle an expensive vase with care.
